Five take: Animal print and challenging VBO

This week we have to wear something animal print and given the awful awful awful weather I thought I would wear my boots with a skirt I picked up from Primark a few months ago.

I really like the way pencil skirts look on me, although this is only one of three I own. I loved the silkiness of the material and the stretch. Animal print and I have eyed each other uncomfortably for a number of years, unsure if we could ever be friends. This snake print has made me think that we may be about to start a long and loving relationship.

The one issue with a pencil skirt, especially one as clinging as this, is VBO (visible belly overhang) which is another word for My Big Stomach. When I bought this I spent ages looking for a long dipped hem top to wear with it to hide The Stomach, but by yesterday I just thought sod it. I found a top I've had for a while and just wore the skirt. And I loved it. It took me a while, but I realised that no one was going to spend their time worrying about the shape of my stomach under my skirt, so why should I?

Not in the pics, but I paired it with a denim jacket to keep out the cold.

So, how do you get yourself out of a clothing comfort-zone? How do you  challenge your ideas of what you can and can't wear?

And please go forth and see what the other lovely five takers wore!

  3. Where is the VBO? I don't see no VBO! As with my own VBO issues, I'm sure its more in our own heads and as you said - no one really sees or cares about it!

    You look fab! Love it!
