The Plus Size Work Wear Challenge - How To 'Werk' The Blazer!

I'm quite lucky when it comes to work wear; I only work three days a week anyway and many of those are spent in the office swearing at Excel and trying to track down where Word has hidden the footnotes function. What I'm trying to say is that I don't often have to dress in classic work wear attire, except when I have meetings or conferences. For men it seems easy, they throw on a suit and their work wear is sorted. For women, perhaps more so fat women, it's harder. I have tried suits. I look and feel awful in them. If I spent a few hundred pounds for something tailored to my exact body shape it might be different. But I don't work in the City and therefore have better things to spend my money on.

Spending my work days avoiding suits, I therefore try to dress 'smart casually', that fine line between not too worky and not to like I've just rolled off the sofa. With that in mind I have wanted a blazer for ages; Something that I could wear on my Mummy-days with a denim skirt or jeans, or with a dress or work trousers. Both the dress and blazer are lovely fabrics - feel all slinky and satiny and girly in them.

Asos is pretty damned good for having clothes that can be dressed either up or down, for day or night. I'd being eying up this blazer for a while, but luckily Claire had bought it, decided to set it free and find it a new home. Oh, and the dress too. Lordy, perhaps I should just call this the 'Workwear that Claire used to wear' challenge? (I do actually buy clothes from stores you know. Really I do).

So, this is my blazer workwear look. Blazers are great for dressing up an outfit and giving you the opportunity to wear something sleeveless in winter. Dressier than a cardigan and slightly less librarian. This is my "I won't wear a suit because they are horrid, but I will look dressy and worky while feeling slinky" look.
